BARLEY HALL (York Archaeological Trust)
BARLEY HALL is owned and operated by York Archaeological Trust, for whom we also created the other attractions Jorvik and Dig.
It is an accurate recreation of a mediaeval home aimed predominantly at a school-aged audience, showing how people lived in Britain in the middle ages.
One key display at the centre, is a table visualizing in a forensic style, the degradation over thousands of years of a ‘typical evening supper’, from being freshly served up to the point in time when site was excavated 1000 years later, bringing the whole concept of archaeology to life.
This feature took about a month to build.
